One World One Revolution

We do not forget.... And we are not alone.

Howard Beale: "I don't have to tell you things are bad. Everybody knows things are bad. It's a depression. Everybody's out of work or scared of losing their job. The dollar buys a nickel's worth; banks are going bust; shopkeepers keep a gun under the counter; punks are running wild in the street, and there's nobody anywhere who seems to know what to do, and there's no end to it.
We know the air is unfit to breathe and our food is unfit to eat. And we sit watching our TVs while some local newscaster tells us that today we had fifteen homicides and sixty-three violent crimes, as if that's the way it's supposed to be!
We all know things are bad -- worse than bad -- they're crazy.
It's like everything everywhere is going crazy, so we don't go out any more. We sit in the house, and slowly the world we're living in is getting smaller, and all we say is, "Please, at least leave us alone in our living rooms. Let me have my toaster and my TV and my steel-belted radials, and I won't say anything. Just leave us alone."
Well, I'm not going to leave you alone.
I want you to get mad!
I don't want you to protest. I don't want you to riot. I don't want you to write to your Congressman, because I wouldn't know what to tell you to write. I don't know what to do about the depression and the inflation and the Russians and the crime in the street.
All I know is that first, you've got to get mad.
You've gotta say, "I'm a human being, goddammit! My life has value!"
So, I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go to the window, open it, and stick your head out and yell,
I'm as mad as hell,
and I'm not going to take this anymore!!"

Quote from the movie "Network" (1976)

News of the week

Hi lovelies!!
I missed you after being absent for a whole week but Greek summer is not to be taken lightly! Today is a kind of cooler day and the temp finally dropped a bit to 100F! I've been too hot, too lazy and totally uninspired... I need a new camera too! It's too time consuming to try to use my broken one so I just don't bother! But I'm saving to buy a new one and this is when I'll start posting like a normal person again!

My outfits lately are limited to easy wearing, cool summer dresses when going out and switching to a swim-suit and 5 showers a day when staying in! But still... I'm in heaven! Not only I love the summer and heat, but I spend all my days with my man. This is the first summer we spend together because he was working during the winter and I was working during the summer!! So we cherish each day that we get since the previous arrangement wasn't very convenient! And this is how I spent my last summer, to give you a clue!

So... a little relaxing, swimming and cuddling is absolutely necessary this year if you see my point!! Back to normal life...on the ground!
Oh... my weird news I mentioned a couple of posts back! You all know I've been unemployed for a while. So when I found this new job I got really excited! I heard about this famous local painter who owns a small gallery and was asking for a girl to work there. Working in a gallery was always a fantasy of mine so I gave it a go! I was supposed to work there 4 hours in the morning and 4 hours in the afternoon! The payment was awful, but I live in a small town, with no real job opportunities...
First day was ok and the painter was kind and he was even interested in my work. So I brought him some drawings I've done when I started painting (I was 13 years old at the time) and some of my jewellery! When he saw my paintings he said: "It took me 15 years to get to that level of painting. You have a good hand". In all, a very satisfying comment if you're a low self-esteem artist like me!!

That's me - with an eeeewww face!
Second day though - not so ok - it became pretty clear that the 70-year-old painter was hitting on me!! Eeeewwwww! I freaked out - end of story.

Back to normal things: We also attended a concert of an amazing Greek Blues band this week! Yes, Greeks have the blues and we're proud of it!

"Blues Wire" is a very talented and dedicated Blues Band, performing for more than 20 years, writing their own music and lyrics! We purchased their latest cd titled "Take my hand to the sky" and I recommend it to everyone who appreciates good music! Check out their work here.  Here's a song for you all!

I also want to send a hug and a special thank you to my newer blog friend Hermione (yes, that's a greek name!) for giving me my second blog award!

She has an awesome cooking blog with a lot of interesting experimental recipes that she comes up with for her baby daughter!! She writes in greek, but you can use google translate I guess - good food is a universal thing! Check her out here and send her your blog-love!! Thanks Hermione dear!!! You've made my week!

Enjoy every day, drink a lot of water and bear with me during August - I'm gonna be a bad blogger!!

Color-blocking necklace

Good morning everyone!! How are you today darlings? I've had a couple of weird days lately... I'll explain!
But first let's talk about fashion, right? We all know by now how hot is the new trend of color-blocking for the summer! I'm a big fan of bright colors and a bigger fan of incorporating fashion in everyday style! So I love the new trend but can't really see me in bright fuchsia pants! And since many bloggers post their version of color-blocking, here's mine:

I made this necklace with new and recycled beads (wood, acrylic, felt, glass) and a vintage looking silver chain. In my opinion (and you all know I'm objective, right? hihi) the necklace is a "statement" piece of jewellery and expresses color-blocking pretty accurately! Plus it could be combined with way too many trendy outfits: I wore it with a very long, white vintage dress (you'll see some pics of that soon) and you could wear it with jeans and a top, a plain skirt or whatever!

Quiz of the day! - Who is the mysterious blogger who has killer legs and recently sent me the trendy color-blocking scented Fashionista candle? Can you tell?? Can you? If you think you can, leave your comment. The correct answer wins a little something made with love by crazy Dimi!! Leave your answer within 24 hours! If more than one wins, you'll all get your something something- and don't cheat!!

The reasons for doing this are:

a) Dimi is happy when she gets gifts!
b) Dimi wants to share the love and magic that you only get out of goodness!
c) After two weird days, Dimi realized that she is ready to launch her business - making unique jewellery with love and sharing them till the world is full of goodies (....and goodness. And love. And magic. And some more goodness....).
I've tried and failed and tried more and I think I am now ready to take up orders and make cute stuff for YOU! So, anybody out there who would like any of the jewellery already posted in the blog, you can now get it (if not sold, because I only make each piece ONCE and only ONCE) or you could buy your own custom jewellery! For orders and info you can use my email (new button on the right side of the blog). Wish me luck darlings!
Kisses

Random earrings (sold, so not for order btw)

p.s. - If you expected I'd tell you about my two weird days in this post... you don't really know me!
Hihihi (evil laugh)! You'll have to come back next time, I'm afraid!

Blogger meeting and news of the week

Greetings lovely friends from around the world! It's a beautiful day, isn't it?? Did you miss me?? Cause I certainly missed you!
The main reason for not posting this week - other than the fact that I was really busy - is my camera incident. I told you it's broken, but actually the screen at the back side of the camera is the one that broke. Which means that the camera works and gives you a false confidence that you'll get your pictures, but trust me when you point and shoot without seeing the result you can end up with 700 new pics and only 5 of them being presentable.... Bottom line - I need a new camera soon!!! (boo-hoo).

Theatrical masks outside the Parliament.

So the exciting news you've missed is that we've spent a couple of days in Athens. We met friends, had a good time and I had my first blogger meeting!! I didn't meet all the bloggers I had in mind because our time was restricted but I did meet one of them - Irini! My greek blog friends already know who I'm talking about, right? Irini is an amazing, sweet, friendly and really talented girl! I was so pleasantly surprised! We had a coffee, she bought one of my necklaces, gave me a lovely gift and she eagerly helped me out to shop for new jewellery supplies!

Irini  and her sweet smile!!

If I were a decent blogger, I would have those pictures... but I'm not! Click here to visit Irini's lovely blog "the little craft workshop" and show her some genuine blog-love please! I also have to tell you, that I used to live in Athens for 8 years but moved back to Nafplio in 2005. So I also met up with my 3 best friends - Elina, Nikos and Christoforos - and that was so refreshing! I miss you guys, you know that!

Oh yeah - ice coffee by the sea!

After three exhausting days we had to hit the beach to get over the heatwave! (this country can be too damn hot sometimes)! A good book, a swim and a lovely meal at a traditional greek fish-tavern! What's more to ask in life??

Jealous?? I know...

And to compensate for the lack of posting, I'm showing you my otherwise private tattoo! There, you now know my little secret!

First world exclusive tattoo pic! Shhh... don't tell!

Nice to see you again people!! Don't forget to smile and appreciate the good things in life (usually the ones that come for free)! Cheers :)

Wish you were here

Quickie outfit and some earrings

Hi friends! Thanks for all your nice comments about my hand getting better (tendinitis) and the positive feedback my jewellery is getting! It gives me a lot of hope!!
Here's the outfit I wore a couple of nights ago, to go to the Nafplio Rock Festival. It's a small music event where local bands gather once a year and perform live by the sea! So I wore a comfortable, wide skirt, which allowed to move freely and just lay on the sand!!

The skirt theme is pink flowers, so I made those earrings to match!! And here's an ugly pic from the concert - I broke my camera on top of everything - so more ugly pics will follow for sure!

 See you next time!
