A day with a cause...

Don't get me wrong: I don't really agree with bloggers that suddenly decide to express their political view and most of the times it turns ugly or starts a comment debate.
So I'm not gonna get into details and political beliefs. Or start to analyze how many deviant things happen in my country and people get away with it! I'm sure you can find many accurate political analysis about Greece if you want to be informed. I'm not here to do that...

But in that general spirit of upheaval and due to the visit of the Minister of Education in our town, the local high school teacher's union gathered for a demonstration against the large cut-backs that recently were decided in the funds spent on education.
Since the bf is a teacher we joined them and we agreed on making some banners the previous day.

Here I am painting and what really is this post about is my fantastic banner-making outfit!

Outfit:

Pants - Asos
Inside Top - from Calzedonia
Navy sweater - local flea market (10 euro)
Woolen Scarf - gift from a friend
Necklace - Local shop
Shoes - cheap everyday flats
Glasses - Vogue (pink+purple)
Fancy socks - don't remember, but really cheap!

Did you see my fancy socks?

And my necklace made of buttons?

Well... that demonstration didn't turn out good. But that's how life is, everything is acceptable. The good, the bad, the pretty, the ugly, the serious and the funny!

......The kitties had fun for sure!

  2. I don't feel like talking about the issue because it makes me sad. I'm kind of a "victim" of this cut back of funds. The outfit looks great though! ;-)

  3. Adorable outfit. I'd steal those socks if you turned away for a moment. :)

  4. Thank you Ralph!! If I find an extra pair, I'll send one over! And Anzo, I know what you mean. Maybe one day we can meet and talk about it then. In the meantime, please don't be sad - get ANGRY and look for answers!
If you ask me, it's the only way to make some difference in the future. History tends to repeat itself! (and don't forget, that's exactly how you're meant to feel!). More on that, some other time. We're all in this together, whether we like it or not!

  5. Hi Leia and welcome to my blog! I'm not a very experienced blogger, but I'd be happy if you stayed around and get to know each other! I've never met anyone from your country, I think it's very interesting! And I have a lot of silly socks and jewellery! Cheers!

  6. I don't have a problem with bloggers expressing political beliefs (though I don't always agree). I just prefer it when people have beliefs, rather than being obsessed with clothes all the time! Sorry your protest didn't turn out...

  7. Hey Emily! I agree: there are so many sad things happening right now in the world that you can't just turn your back on them! It's important to stay informed and see clothes and fashion for what they are-to keep us warm and as a fun hobby! I don't like people that are obsessed at all! Welcome to my blog, I'm glad I'm making new friends!
p.s. your blog is full of great posts!

  8. I agree with Emily, too, although being TOO obsessed with beliefs all the time on a blog isn't good, either! I liked this post very much...if you hadn't posted, I wouldn't have known about this going on over there! Seems like very much of the world is in turmoil right now. :( Sometimes, it's difficult to write a superfluous "fashion blog" when all this crazy stuff is going on in the around around us...but ahh well. Everyone's gotta have a hobby, and blogging is mine. Sorry to hear the protest didn't go too well. Here's hoping it all works out for the best.

P.S. Thanks for your tip on making a scarf hanger! It's ingenious yet obvious...I can't believe I didn't think of it first!

  9. Anytime Ashley!! I'm glad I made some people interested, it's a small victory in a way. If you ask me blogging is a way to let some of the steam out and communicate, so it's a very creative hobby to have!! And you meet all these COOL people!

  10. It's interesting for me to read your account of what's going on in Greece. The news here is often an impersonal view into complex issues.

And on a shallower note - I like your button necklace. I have a little bag of mismatched buttons that I didn't know what to do with. Maybe I have a fun project coming up. . .

  11. Hey Jenn, thanks for your support. I rarely believe the news, especially the greek news channels! Like you said, these are complex issues and you get a better view if you talk to the people involved - I enjoy talking to my american colleaques to understand what's going on on your side of the planet! (even if those conversations end up in huge debates!!)
Good luck with your button project-I'm sure you can make something nice! If you see a couple of posts back I bought a lot of cute stuff to start making my own jewellery, so I'm struggling with that project at the moment!!
